A nice Septemberish piece.
This time of year in the Willamette Valley we are all about wild Blackberries. We have several brown brush bunnies who take shelter in our berry thickets. We are also in a race against the deer. This morning there were two does - each with twin fawns - all munching on blackberries! My sister has been feverishly picking berries. I need to take advantage of her efforts and make a cobbler or two, and help freeze the rest.
I shopped the Tuesday Farmers' Market this week.
The changing seasons are evident there as well.
Melons of all sorts - I admire anyone in this zone who can grow a mature melon of any sort. We are generally too short on hot days and nights for melons to mature.
And root veggies - beets and carrots - good beginnings for a hardy bowl of soup!
